Default Fishing Lures

These lures were made in 2003 using some of our now discontinued products. While these look good, they are nowhere near as bright as you could create with our current product line.

Danny,

This promises to be a very informative forum. I have a couple of questions for you. Say if you wanted to make a lure made of soft PVC glow, but you did not want to paint it, what would you use? I am asking this because I am not an artist, give me a spray can, and you will have a lure that a fish wouldn't pee on, let alone bite, glow or no glow!

Is there something you could put on it, say a glow powder? Followed by a clear coat of a saltwater resistant paint?

For soft pvc, you will definately want to use the glow paint. The powder options would probably not have the durability in the water. Our solvent-based paint should adhere to that soft PVC very well.

I assume you are starting with an existing lure. If you are making it from scratch, you can add the glow pigment straight to the PVC mixture at a 5-20% letdown.

The good news is that glow paint is fairly easy to use. The small sizes come with an applicator brush.

Some customers buy cans of paint and dip the lures and then hang to dry. But this is very innefficient.

Here are some tips that may help with your painting:

1. Use Ultra Green V10 paint. Since it is the brightest, it is the one most likely to work.

2. If you get to choose the color of the starting lure, choose white or a bright color. If the lure is not factory painted, do not add a layer of white just for this purpose.

3. For a great seal, paint a layer of Krylon Crystal Clear over you finished product. It is available at almost any hardware store.

4. Take a black-light with you. You can get a 12V tube-style black light at spencer gifts. Less powerful, but more convenient are the LED UV keychains like the Photon III UV. On the high end is the Inova X5 UV.

I am a faithful user of your product not only for my personal use, but I demonstrate your product at trade shows and people think it's awesome. We have developed a great system to light up glow lures for fishing purposes called lure lightning. Google Lure Lightning. We truely stand behind your paints and are very pleased and look forward to learning more about the wide use of them.

Smile Shrimping

Have learnt a lot from this site, but I got one very interesting question for any experts to help me out: can I use this Glow-in-Dark Lures to attract and trap any prawns or shrimps in the Lake or coastal waters? Hope someone can tell me some this experience on shrimping! Thanks a lot!

I'd like to see some testimonials for a glow in the dark fishing lure. That'd be nice if it increased visibility in dark murky waters, but I could also see it scaring fish away too. However, bugs fly toward the light. Are fish any smarter?

Default Smart fish

Quite recently I overheard a dialogue on this glow forum that fish are upgrading their tech to read human thoughts.
