I have a friend in Chicago that wants a ceiling done, and since I live in Texas I was wondering if any one on the forum is in her area. I would prefer to refer her to someone here instead of sending her to "that other place".
Thanks, Fate BTW- Check out my bathroom light cover. I'm really excited I can see and pee without turning on an eyeball scorching light in the middle of the night. |

So sorry I'm NY based, but I admire your GID bathroom light cover so much that I would like to make a replica of it for my own cave (LOL). Is the cover spherical or dish shaped ? Mine is dish shaped (not an orb), and frosted (not clear).
Did you apply the paint to the outside ? Please share..thanks. It somehow reminds me of the miniature galaxy which everybody was chasing after in the movie "Men in Black 1". |

The light cover is a white opague and sort of dish shape, see attached. It does look sort of moldy during the day, but who looks at it?
I feel I need to stress that this technique would probably make the Fire Marshall very nervous. I do not think I would offer this to clients until I fine tune it and do some research on the flammability of the adhesive after it dries and cures. I sprayed the inside of the globe with a clear spray adhesive. VERY FLAMMABLE!! While it is still wet, I used a spice jar with holes in the top and sprinkled a mix of green and blue powder and sand. After that, I let it sit in a non dusty area for several days until the odor was gone. Then I just put it back up. I use CFL light bulbs instead of traditional ones as the CFLs do not get as hot. It is one of my favorite ways to use the powder and sand. I tried it on a different globe that had a lot of tans in it and it glows for maybe 5 minutes and it's done. With the opague white one, it glows all night. Fate |

Thanks for the response and pix. 'My' light fixture covers are MUCH shallower, resembling oversized eating plates (or pot covers without the handles), suspended an inch or so off the ceiling. They're white opaque like yours so I may still try.
