Without taking a ruler to them as I paint them I guestimate the small to be about 1/4" across and the large 3/8" across. I like my constellations to stand out. The ones I put up with the Elmers glue bottle are anywhere from a 1/16" to 1/4".

When I first looked at your picture, I didnt realize it was so close up. I also didnt realize the stencil was there. It took a while for my brain to quantify it.

When I did my testing, I never actually squeezed out the paint. I simply just put pressure on the plunger and let friction sort of suck it out. This made about 1/8" inch stars.

Thanks, Westend. I finally had some time to play with the paint. Filled my son's room with water-based cones to complement his existing stars. I gotta add a whole lot more cones for a better effect, but I like how it turned out... and it's *super* easy to apply with the syringe.

Skylighter - you have a winner product with this paint!

Default star ceiling in dedicated theater

The following instructions will not work with solvent-based paints. It will only work with Glow Inc's new water-based paints. I suggest the Ultra Green v10. (note: see sales the thread under "General Projects")

Go to a drug store like CVS and get a syringe designed to give babies medicine. Fill the syringe with the water-based paint. Place light pressure on the plunger and dab the ceiling at every spot requiring a star. After some practice, you can add about 40 stars per minute. Heavier pressure on the plunger creates thicker, brighter stars.

If you keep your syringe clean, you can reuse it dozens of times. At about $3, it is a real bargain.

Note: Glow Inc.'s new paint is ideal for this method. Thinner paint will simply squish out and thicker paint doesn't peak properly. I also tried it with epoxy and silicone. Neither worked.

I will try to post pictures within the week. If you try this method, please report your experiences.
Danny,

New member here. I want to paint my dedicated theater that is located in my basement. Needless to say it is light controlled. The only light it gets is from turning on the lights. I read that the paint needs recharging, how would I achieve this in my set up? I also will have a ceiling mounted projector, projecting light to the screen, will the stars create enough light to interfere with the projector? How much product will I need for a 15x15 ceiling? Should I try and paint with a couple of colors?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

Reece

My thoughts.

If you have not already moved to fluorescent or compact fluorescent in that room, now is the time to do it. I would suggest the "coo" or "daylight" bulbs.

The glow stars are not bright enough to interfere with the projector.

I would get 2 oz of Ultra Green V10 and stick to just green.

Thanks Danny,

I forgot to mention that my ceiling is painted black. I have a couple sconces on the walls. (one on each side). In order to charge the paint I need to have the lights on? if so for how long? We watch one or two movies per week, other than that the lights stay off.

Dear Irish star,

The jobs we perform look so real that, photoshop is the closest representation of what we do. Every job performed, is a personalized environment according to the distribution of the area to be designed.

"Every mural is unique, every stroke is precise."
